Partner Mark A. Konkel was quoted in the Law360 article “How To Avoid A Legal Hangover After Your Holiday Party.” The article examines potential legal problems, such as discrimination and harassment, that could occur at holiday parties thrown by employers. Mr. Konkel provides advice on various issues, which include limiting alcohol consumption to prevent inebriation and litigious behavior. “Whoever is serving should be instructed by the employer to be willing to pour shorter drinks or take other steps to mediate consumption of alcohol,” he said. Mr. Konkel also recommends having certain employees monitor the party and be on the lookout for problems. “Designate people to keep the party under control. The fact of the matter is you should have a handful of people just to keep an eye on things.”
