Partner John J. Heitmann was listed in the Law360 article “DC Circ. Urged To Put Tribal Phone Subsidy Limits On Hold.” A group of wireless carriers pushed the D.C. Circuit to freeze a Federal Communications Commission order that limits who can participate in a phone subsidy program for Native Americans, warning that the rule threatens services for up to 59,000 low-income customers. The article notes that Assist Wireless LLC, Easy Telephone Services Co., TerraCom Inc. and True Wireless LLC told the appellate court that the agency tightened tribal eligibility for the Lifeline phone subsidy without seeking comment or weighing the impact on customers or providers, even though the change will cost them. Assist Wireless and Easy Telephone are represented by Mr. Heitmann.
