Law360 Discusses Dismissal of $200 Million Copyright Infringement Action Against HBO, Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg for Series “Ballers”
July 26, 2016

A California Federal Judge dismissed a suit regarding the popular HBO series Ballers claiming the idea and underlying elements for the show were stolen from two screenwriters. As published by Law360, lead counsel Lee S. Brenner, special counsel Sarah L. Cronin and senior associate Ken D. Kronstadt secured a dismissal in the claim brought by Everette Silas and Sherri Littleton.

“The screenwriters cobbled together copyright-unprotectable story elements to create a case for substantial similarity where none exist,” argued Brenner at the hearing on the motion.
