Partner Bert Theeuwes was quoted in the International Bar Association Daily News article “Tackling workplace discrimination.” The article covers mental health disabilities in the workplace and how discrimination is being addressed. Mr. Theeuwes notes that, “In Belgium, there is a tendency to be more and more open, and request accommodations up front. It’s more and more the case that people step up from the beginning,” However, he went on to say that the further you progress in a Belgian company, the less likely it is to find people willing to self-identify as having a mental health disability. “It’s still not acceptable to show any weaknesses whatsoever, be it mental or physical,” he said of the higher ranks.
