In Zimmerman Lawsuit, Roseanne Barr Admits Tweeting Family Address
April 22, 2014

Kelley Drye partners David E. Fink and Michael J. O'Connor are representing comedienne Roseanne Barr in a lawsuit filed by the parents of George Zimmerman. According to a story published by Orlando Sentinel, Barr admitted and acknowledged in court paperwork to tweeting the parents’ Lake Mary, Florida address. The Zimmerman’s allege that after Barr tweeted their address, they were forced to flee their home in the middle of the night and subjected to live in hiding. The suit, which seeks unspecified damages, accuses Barr of violating their privacy and intentionally inflicting emotional distress.

Barr’s lawyers argue that she is not liable for damages because she was merely putting out facts that were widely available elsewhere. “Anyone could find them in the phone book or by conducting an Internet search,” according to the defense motion.

Their son and neighborhood watch volunteer, George Zimmerman, was acquitted of murdering 17-year-old Trayvon Martin by a Seminole County jury in 2013.
