E-Commerce Times quoted partner Henry T. Kelly in its article, "Is Palm's Future in Nokia's Hands?"
The article addressed speculation that Lenovo could acquire Palm as reported by Reuters. Mr. Kelly provided reasons why Nokia has the ability to acquire Palm, the incentive to acquire Palm's patent portfolio and strong business motivation for the acquisition.
He noted Palm's patent portfolio, estimated to be worth $1.5 billion, is attractive to potential acquirers, especially those wanting to block a competitor from developing competitive technologies. He also discussed Nokia and Apple's litigation before the International Trade Commission and Nokio's current financial status.
Mr. Kelley also recalled that Nokia had considered acquiring Palm in 2007.
