Partner Miles Cooley was featured in the Daily Journal article “Lawyer, Once Foster Child, Urges Dependency Funding,” addressing his mission to advocate for foster care children.
Miles is working with legislators to push for $22 million in additional state support for dependency counsel in the 2017-2018 budget. Once a foster child, he is the rare person who can articulate both sides of the equation.
“Let’s not just be policy people who talk about metrics,” said Miles. “I think it’s really time that people start stepping in the shoes of these kids for a while and thinking about what it’s like to be them.”
