DNA India Interviews Partner John M. Callagy on Legal Differences Between India and United States
October 5, 2009
In the article, “The Key Difference Between India and the U.S. is Law Enforcement,” DNA India published a Q&A with partner John M. Callagy. The article noted that Kelley Drye has represented “a range of top Indian firms in the U.S., including Tata Steel, Taj Hotels, Ranbaxy, Mahindra & Mahindra, Sesa Goa and State Bank of India.” The article addressed the legal spending by Indian companies in the United States; contingency fees; the litigation, compliance and pre-trial processes; and the legal nuances Indian companies should be particularly wary of. Mr. Callagy also discussed ways in which smaller companies can protect themselves, the advantages of settling out-of-court and the benefits of undertaking proactive government relations.
