Partner Andrew Lee was quoted in the Communications Daily article “‘Even Playing Field’ Congress Expected to Weigh Tax Collection Parameters, Post-Wayfair.”  In the wake of the Supreme Court’s Wayfair decision, states are now moving to collect online sales taxes.  Though the Wayfair decision paved the way for this change, many questions remain, including, as Andrew suggests, how this ruling impacts telecommunications service providers.  He explains that this is because the transaction thresholds identified by the Wayfair Court are not easy to apply to the telecom industry.  To that end, Andrew states that Congress should ​“establish national standards and bright-line rules that  would apply not only to sellers of tangible personal property but also providers of services such as telecommunications services.”
