Columbia Law School Magazine Features Stephen W. Stein's Work in Rwanda
January 19, 2010
Columbia Law School Magazine prominently noted the work of partner Stephen W. Stein in an article, "Pulling Their Weight" about alumni working with the International Senior Lawyers Project. The World Bank asked organizations to review foreign contracts for methane gas at the bottom of Lake Kivu, shared by the Congo and Rwanda. The gas would be used for turbines to generate electricity, an energy source which only 6 percent of the population in Rwanda enjoys. Mr. Stein explained that the contracts were unfair to Rwanda and the new contracts that he and other ISLP volunteers drafted will more than double the number of Rwandans with access to electricity.
