Statement on Recent Events from Kelley Drye Chairman James Carr

We have seen the images across our cities this weekend and are saddened by the horrific event in Minneapolis—the senseless killing of George Floyd---that triggered the outpouring of responses. It is important for us to acknowledge that racism exists and that violence toward people of color, particularly African-American men, is a longstanding societal problem.  At Kelley Drye we stand in solidarity with peaceful protestors and social justice organizations that promote the value of human life.  As we struggle with our thoughts and emotions, I remind you of the words of Justice Thurgood Marshall. In recognizing the humanity of our fellow beings, we pay ourselves the highest tribute.”  Let us continue our work of building a strong, inclusive community, as we value each other and affirm our belief in justice and equality.
