Kelley Drye Sponsors GeoPlunge Challenge Tournament for Fifth Consecutive Year

On May 16, 2017, Kelley Drye’s Washington, D.C. office sponsored the Noyes Elementary School in the GeoPlunge Challenge Tournament at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery for the fifth consecutive year.  Attorneys and staff volunteered at the tournament and participated as coaches for the students throughout the spring season. The spring GeoPlunge program ended with an exciting 2nd place win for the participants from Noyes Elementary School.

DC Public Schools in partnership with the Washington Lawyers’ Committee presents an Annual GeoPlunge Challenge Tournament as part of their larger school partnership programs.  The GeoPlunge Challenge Tournament is based on a game that teaches students about the geography of the United States. This educational event is a fun way to get students excited about geography.  It bolsters the students’ knowledge of and excitement for geography and helps them master a key Social Studies Learning Standard – identifying all 50 states and their capitals.  This all day event is open to students from grades 3 through 8, who compete in teams of three.
