On March 15, 2014, LegalEra magazine held its third annual awards “in recognition of legal finesse, innovation and accomplishments” at the Hotel Taj Lands End in Mumbai, India. At this event Kelley Drye partner and India Practice chair Talat Ansari was presented with a prestigious “Lifetime Achievement Award.” According to the LegalEra Awards website, “the Indian Legal Awards set out to recognize the achievement of those law firms, teams and individuals for their impeccable efforts surviving the challenges of new business environment and serving with professional social responsibility.” The winners were determined by LegalEra’s independent panel of senior partners and other senior business figures.
Mr. Ansari graduated from the Faculty of Law of Delhi University in 1975 and joined the firm of J. B. Dadachanji & Co. (“JBD”) where he became the youngest partner of the firm in 1979. In April 1987 Mr. Ansari was offered partnership at Kelley Drye and moved to New York. Today, Mr. Ansari represents a number of Indian corporate houses and banks in commercial transactions and litigation. He also represents Indian and U.S. companies in international arbitrations where the Indian law is the governing law of arbitration.
