Lewis Rose, Kelley Drye D.C. Office Managing Partner, Named “Advertising Lawyer of the Year”
August 16, 2013

Kelley Drye & Warren LLP announced today that D.C. office managing partner Lewis Rose has been named the 2014 Washington, D.C. "Lawyer of the Year" for Advertising and Marketing Law by Best Lawyers – a distinction the firm has held for four consecutive years. Partner William C. MacLeod was the recipient of the 2013 honor, which was previously held by partners Gonzalo E. Mon (2012) and John E. Villafranco (2011).

The "Lawyer of the Year" designation is based entirely on a comprehensive peer-review survey in which leading attorneys cast approximately five million votes on the legal abilities of other lawyers in their practice areas. Because this is a peer designation and there is no listing fee, the Best Lawyers methodology is structured to capture consensus opinion about the attorneys who deserve to be commended for their abilities, professionalism, and integrity.

Mr. Rose focuses his practice on consumer protection, advertising and consumer product safety law, representing clients before federal and state law enforcement agencies, and self-regulatory bodies such as the National Advertising Division (NAD) of the Council of Better Business Bureaus. He handles numerous high-profile investigations by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), particularly enforcement actions involving substantiation of advertising claims, compliance with trade regulation rules and a broad spectrum of marketing practices. Mr. Rose previously served as an attorney with the FTC, assistant to the director of the FTC Bureau of Consumer Protection, and attorney advisor to FTC Commissioner Terry Calvani.

As managing partner of Kelley Drye's Washington,  D.C.  office Mr. Rose has been instrumental in promoting a unified and positive office culture for all Kelley Drye employees.

Five other Kelley Drye advertising law attorneys were also selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America. William C. MacLeod, Gonzalo E. Mon, Dana B. Rosenfeld, Christie Grymes Thompson, and John E. Villafranco were recognized for their outstanding reputations and excellence in legal work.
