Partner Eric McClafferty and Government Relations Professional Dana S. Wood participated in a seminar hosted by the Japan Society on October 1, 2009. The seminar assessed the impact of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) on international market access. The speakers also discussed various international trade and enforcement challenges facing the Obama administration, which included countering weapons of mass destruction proliferation and terrorism, as well as reconciling the complex relationship between trade policy and charges of protectionism. The speakers also discussed the possible structure of forthcoming trade legislation and how to establish an effective international trade compliance system.
