Senior Advisor Lee Terry will serve as a panelist at the "Legal Challenges Preventing the Construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline" session of the American University Business Law Review’s Fall 2017 Symposium: What’s Next in the Pipeline: A Discussion of the Legal, Economic, and Societal Implications of the Keystone XL Pipeline. This panel will discuss how the pipeline could cause environmental damage through oil leakage during the transportation process, and how the pipeline could impact the level of greenhouse gas and other carbon emissions. Moreover, this panel will address whether the State Department gave proper consideration to the concerns of indigenous community groups during the Keystone XL permit process, and whether the pipeline would impact indigenous communities’ land and mineral rights.
