On January 15, 2014 associate Christopher M. Loeffler spoke at the Mobile FirstLook: Strategy 2014 conference in New York, NY. Mr. Loeffler spoke on a panel titled "Legal/Privacy: Big Data, Big Brother, Big Issues." The legal landscape around mobile is characterized by unsettled issues over privacy, data collection, ad targeting, tracking and legislation that could dilute the full potential of mobile advertising, marketing and commerce. This session discussed consumer concerns over data collection and why advertising suffers from lack of cookies on mobile web. Additionally, the panel outlined the difference in approach toward privacy in the European Union versus the United States and pending legislation nationwide and overseas.
