On May 19, 2015, the Diversity & Inclusion Committee and the Associate Training & Development Committee (ATD) jointly sponsored a unique program, KDW Women in Management,” in which Kelley Drye women partners in leadership roles around the firm discussed what is involved in the management of a practice group, committee, office, and service on the executive committee. Panelists included trademark and copyright practice group chair Andrea L. Calvaruso, Washington, D.C. office managing partner Kathleen W. Cannon, real estate practice group co-chair Karyn Corlett Fulton, labor and employment practice group chair Barbara E. Hoey, chair of the diversity and inclusion committee Alysa Z. Hutnik, Parsippany office managing partner Lauri A. Mazzuchetti, and marketing practice group chair Christie Grymes Thompson.

The speakers discussed the skills needed for success in a formal leadership role at Kelley Drye. Panelists listed the following as the most critical to being an effective leader: confidence, curiosity, drive, trust, passion, brand-building, resilience, listening, communication and teamwork. The partners emphasized firm managing partner Lew Rose’s all-in’ mantra, including taking responsibility for one’s work and follow-through after suggesting ideas.
