Have Women in Advertising Really Come A Long Way, Baby?

2013 ANA Advertising Law & Public Policy Conference

March 19, 2013

On March 19, 2013, Jodie Z. Bernstein spoke at the 2013 ANA Advertising Law & Public Policy Conference in Washington, D.C. The event addressed the big issues marketers and their partners will be facing, and how corporate counsel and C-level executives will navigate through major legal and public policies in an increasingly regulated and litigious marketplace. Ms. Bernstein spoke at the session, Have Women in Advertising Really Come A Long Way, Baby?” The session discussed images of women in advertising, and whether potentially demeaning advertisements should be left to the market to regulate through self-regulation or if there is something deceptive or unfair about showing perfectly airbrushed beauties or emaciated female models in demeaning positions that should make it an enforcement issue for the government.
