General Counsel Roundtable

The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel and Lawyers for Civil Justice

January 23, 2004

Partner Robert Haig participated in a General Counsel Roundtable,” which was organized jointly by The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel and Lawyers for Civil Justice to define how chief legal officers, working with their law firms, can make their companies more effective proponents of legal reform by better utilizing existing resources. Mr. Haig encouraged companies to use, and support the creation of, business courts as a way to reduce litigation costs and the likelihood of off-the-wall” decisions. Mr. Haig and the other guest speakers also explored the relationship between a law firm’s reputation and legislative success, leveraging influence with the support of outside counsel, and seizing the right political climate to advance a legislative reform agenda.
