On June 4, 2014, Shari Coats, Associate General Counsel and Partner in the Office of General Counsel at Deloitte LLP visited Kelley Drye’s New York office as part of its Diversity Speaker Series. Also visiting from Deloitte was Sean Kelly, Senior Manager of OFCCP Matters and Legal Discovery. In an engaging and thought provoking session, the Deloitte representatives spoke about the significance of Inclusion and its prominence at Deloitte. In the presentation, Ms. Coats referenced the research done by the Deloitte University Center for Inclusion in highlighting the concept of “covering” and the challenges faced by employees in “bringing their authentic selves to work.” The presenters also offered tips to the associate audience on the importance of personal branding in the development of one’s career. Following the session, the Deloitte team was hosted to lunch by partner Robert I. Steiner, associate Damon W. Suden and Diversity Director, Venetta Amory.
