New York CLE Seminar Series

November 13, 2007 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm (EST)

The recent spate of high-profile product recalls has heightened consumer awareness and increased regulatory concern regarding compliance with a multitude of product safety standards. Join Christie Grymes Thompson, Chair of Kelley Drye’s Consumer Product Safety Practice Group, as she outlines the Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) regulations, guidelines, and enforcement activity and provides practical how-to advice on what makes a successful CPSC compliance program. She will also address the emerging trends and developments that have significantly impacted the statutory and legal framework regulating product safety and consumer protection today.

Kelley Drye’s Consumer Product Safety practice has a long and successful history representing clients before the CPSC. We have extensive experience advising clients on a range of complex regulatory issues, including complying with CPSC reporting requirements for hazardous products, managing product recalls, and developing and executing communications programs that satisfy product liability concerns and minimize potential penalties. We work with manufacturers, retailers, and national industry groups to develop effective product safety compliance programs that identify and address issues before they come to the attention of regulators. Additionally, our team of skilled professionals is equipped to advise clients on appropriate responses and strategies when the CPSC threatens to bring enforcement actions.

In accordance with the requirements of the New York State Continuing Legal Education Board, this non-transitional continuing legal education program is not approved for the newly admitted attorney within the first two years of admission to the Bar.
