On December 21, 2012, the Federal Communications Commission released a Report and Order announcing the Healthcare Connect Fund. The Fund provides support for high-capacity broadband connectivity to eligible health care providers (HCPs) and encourages the formation of state and regional broadband HCP networks. As part of this program, HCPs will be able to receive a 65 percent discount on all eligible services and expenses. These expenses include broadband services and equipment, and, for consortium applicants, HCP-constructed and owned network facilities. A total of $400 million per year will be made available under the program.
On May 22, 2013, Kelley Drye held a webinar that outlined the details and opportunities of the Healthcare Connect Fund. The webinar addressed who is eligible to apply for these benefits, how service providers can participate in the program, and what to expect from the application process.
Presentation slides of the webinar are available to registrants.
