Join Kelley Drye’s Government Relations and Public Policy group as we hear from incoming Chief Deputy Whip Representative Peter Roskam (R-IL), who will share his view on priorities in the 112th Congress. Where will incoming Ways and Means Committee Chairman Camp (R-MI) focus his attention with respect to tax policy? What will the new majority want to accomplish regarding taxing and spending? How do the priorities of the Ways and Means Committee fit within the larger congressional agenda for 2011 and beyond?

Representative Peter Roskam represents Illinois’ 6th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, a seat he has held since 2006. In the 112th Congress, Representative Roskam will serve as Chief Deputy Whip to incoming Republican Whip Kevin McCarthy - a position that has been a traditional stepping stone for higher spots in GOP leadership. Representative Roskam is also a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, which is responsible for all of the Federal tax policy in the United States. Prior to joining the United States Congress, Representative Roskam served in the Illinois State legislature for four years, with President Barack Obama. This experience offers the congressman a unique perspective and insight into our 44th President that few have been able to experience. In 2005, Americans for Tax Reform named him ​“Hero of the Taxpayer.”

Nan Hayworth is the U.S. Representative-elect for New York’s 19th congressional district. She challenged Democratic incumbent John Hall in the 2010 election. Representative-elect Hayworth ran on the Republican, Conservative, and Independence Party ballot lines and was endorsed by former NYC Mayor Rudy Guiliani. She is a graduate of Princeton University and Cornell University Medical College. Prior to her election to Congress, Representative-elect Hayworth was a practicing ophthalmologist.
