Bankruptcy and Real Estate Practice Development Specialist

Kelley Drye & Warren LLP, a powerhouse firm with the heart of a boutique, is seeking a Practice Development Specialist to work with the attorneys and professionals in the firm’s Bankruptcy and Real Estate practice groups. Based out of New York, the Specialist will support attorneys residing in several offices.

This is a tactical role requiring excellent project management, event management, and organizational skills.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Business Development: Assist practice group leaders and individual attorneys with the design and execution of business development plans.  Help lawyers pursue new opportunities by staying informed about the present and emerging needs of clients and the issues and trends in their industries.  Produce and track the results of new business presentations, proposals and referral relationships.  Provide structure and support to cross-selling initiatives, including through internal communications that promote the practices’ successes and areas of expertise.

Research: Conduct company, industry and other business development research using industry-specific database tools to synthesize findings into actionable intelligence. Evaluate business development opportunities through daily research on potential and current bankruptcy filings.

Knowledge Management: Maintain the quality and accuracy of each practice’s collateral materials, experience and deal lists, and related marketing resources. Manage and maintain bankruptcy database of contacts, relationships, and referrals.

Events:  Coordinate firm-hosted programs, including a multi-day thought leadership summit, CLE presentations and various client appreciation events.  Apply creativity to develop compelling Power Point presentations and event invitations. Create and implement strategies to raise the profiles of the practices and attorneys, such as by securing speaking and/or sponsorship opportunities.   Identify and manage appropriate trade association relationships.

Marketing Communications: Manage content marketing including distribution of client communications and creation of digital media content. Evaluate opportunities to submit for awards or inclusion in credible legal directories. 
Key Skills and Experience Required
The ideal candidate will be client service-oriented with the drive to support entrepreneurial groups of lawyers. The successful candidate will be a proactive, detail-oriented, self-directed marketing professional with an undergraduate degree and a minimum of three years of marketing or business development experience. Outstanding writing and inter-personal communications and organizational skills are required.
