Training & Development

At Kelley Drye, there is a strong emphasis on attorneys' professional development. Much of the training we provide is in addition to that required to meet Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements. Professional development is fostered through:

  • In-house, accredited training programs
  • CLE programs by outside providers, paid for by the Firm
  • Active mentoring within practice groups
  • Ongoing feedback on work assignments

Associates are given significant responsibility at an early stage in their careers. Matters are staffed to give junior associates the opportunity to take on as much responsibility as they can manage. Junior associates regularly:

  • Make court appearances
  • Take depositions
  • Argue motions
  • Deal directly with clients on substantive matters
  • Represent clients at administrative proceedings
  • Become integral members of commercial transaction teams
  • Prepare documents related to corporate governance issues
  • Draft and negotiate agreements in connection with offerings, private placements and financings
