Partners Mark Konkel and Rob Steiner authored the Law360 article How To Handle Ebola Fear In The Workplace: 4 Scenarios.” The expressions of employees’ unfounded fears of Ebola – for example, refusing to work with a colleague that has traveled in an area that, rightly or wrongly, may be associated in employees’ minds with Ebola – may implicate an employer’s obligations under a number of employment laws, including disability discrimination laws prohibiting differential treatment based on a perception of someone’s physical condition. The authors created several scenarios which employers could potentially be confronted with and provided tips on the steps employers should take if placed in such a situation.
