Kelley Drye represents corporations and advertising agencies that are investigated by federal and state government agencies for false or deceptive advertising or illegal sales or marketing practices. Over the past several years we have worked on the following public cases:
- America Online, Inc., CompuServe, Inc. Represented AOL and CompuServe during a four-year investigation before the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) of its advertising and member services practices (culminated in January 2004).
- Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon v. Nextel Communications, Inc. Represented Nextel in investigation and eventual litigation against AG Nixon.
- First Alliance Mortgage Corporation. Represented this sub-prime lender in litigation filed by the FTC, six state attorneys general, AARP and related consumer class actions.
- Bentley-Myers Int'l Ltd. Represented this national marketer of nutritional supplements in litigation filed by the Department of Justice alleging violations of a prior FTC order.
- Triad Discount Buying Club. Represented a national marketer of discount buying clubs in investigations led by the FTC and 47 state attorneys general.
- RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company. Defended RJR's Joe Camel advertising campaign in administrative litigation that resulted in the FTC's withdrawal of its complaint.
