Kelley Drye has been recognized in the second annual Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll, for their outstanding contribution to pro bono legal work. Kelley Drye received High Honors for donating more than 100 hours of pro bono service last year.

In a joint letter published earlier this month, D.C. Court of Appeals Chief Judge Eric T. Washington and Superior Court Chief Judge Lee F. Satterfield wrote, “We are so pleased and proud to congratulate the members of the 2012 Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll for their remarkable pro bono service to our neighbors in need. Through their tireless work, an elderly couple avoided homelessness; a survivor of domestic violence finally confronted her abuser in court; a tenant association purchased the building where most of its members have lived all their lives; a recently discharged veteran received his rightful benefits; a seriously ill man has now been approved by his insurance company to receive a lung transplant; and so many other individuals, families, non-profits and small, disadvantaged businesses received critical access to counsel who helped lift them to a better place.”

As part of the 2011 National Celebration of Pro Bono, the Commission and the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Program assisted the D.C. Courts to establish the Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll; and it has continued for a second year to celebrate the pro bono contributions made by members of the D.C. Bar in 2012. The Honor Roll, which is jointly sponsored by the D.C. Court of Appeals and the Superior Court of D.C., recognizes attorneys who provide 50 or more hours of pro bono services (or 100 or more hours of service for a higher recognition category) per year.
