Kelley Drye & Warren LLP is pleased to announce that Wayne J. D’Angelo has joined the firm as a special counsel, working in the Washington, D.C. office.  Mr. D’Angleo will be a part of the firm’s D.C. environmental and energy law group, focusing on issues surrounding conventional and non-conventional fuels, resource extraction including hydraulic fracturing, greenhouse gas regulation and stationary and mobile sources issues under the Clean Air Act.

Having worked for Kelley Drye earlier in his career, Mr. D’Angelo now returns to the firm after serving as counsel to the American Petroleum Institute, where he managed and advanced many of the institute’s most critical issues, including climate change and greenhouse gas regulatory issues and litigation, federal and state hydraulic fracturing regulatory and legal actions, energy access issues and waste and remediation issues.  Mr. D’Angelo has also served as a Presidential Appointee working directly for the EPA administrator and general counsel, as legislative assistant to Congressman Bob Franks of New Jersey and as an associate at Kelley Drye in the environmental law group.

Mr. D’Angelo has a proven record of regulatory advocacy serving numerous manufacturing, industrial and resource extraction industries on existing and emerging environmental issues and providing strategic response plans for mission-critical issues that bring together technical, scientific, economic, legal and government relations expertise.

“We’re delighted to welcome Wayne back to Kelley Drye.  In his short time away, he has established himself at the forefront of the legal issues surrounding the conventional and alternative fuel industries and developed a critical understanding of the governmental and regulatory bodies attendant to those industries.  He’s a highly accomplished and highly experienced attorney and we’re proud to have him back.”  said Paul Rosenthal, Managing Partner of the Washington, D.C.office.

“I’m thrilled to return to work alongside this outstanding group of attorneys”  said Wayne D’Angelo. “My time at API provided me an in-depth understanding of the challenges faced by the oil and natural gas industry and I look forward to working closely with my colleagues and our clients to advance the exploration and development of conventional and alternative fuel sources, including the untapped potential of domestic resources.”

Mr. D’Angleo received his JD from George Mason University School of Law.
