James Prince Receives William W. Scott Pro Bono Legal Services Award

Washington, D.C. – Kelley Drye Collier Shannon recently recognized associate James E. Prince with the William W. Scott Pro Bono Legal Services Award. The award is presented to a Kelley Drye Collier Shannon attorney who has demonstrated an exceptional dedication to helping the disadvantaged.

"Since James joined us three years ago, his commitment to pro bono and community service work as a volunteer, mentor, or advocate has been unwavering," said Paul C. Rosenthal, Chairman of Kelley Drye Collier Shannon. "His passion and sincere interest in pro bono work made him the unanimous choice for this year’s award."

"As a firm, we are committed to pro bono and community service work and encourage our attorneys to seek out organizations and individuals that can benefit from our legal expertise," continued Mr. Rosenthal.

Mr. Prince’s pro bono activities include successfully representing a tenant against a landlord's attempts at eviction and helping individuals obtain Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA). TAA is a federal program that assists individuals who have become unemployed as a result of import competition. He regularly advises other associates on pro bono cases and coordinated the annual fundraising campaign for the Washington Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs. He was involved in the selection of the 2005 Kelley Drye Collier Shannon Scholarship recipient. This $10,000 scholarship, given in association with the Minority Corporate Counsel Association, is awarded to newly accepted law students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
