Barry J. Pollack is quoted in a Newsday article, "Charges Dismissed in Martin Tankleff Murder Case." On July 22, 2008, Suffolk County Court Judge Robert W. Doyle officially dismissed the double homicide charges against Martin Tankleff, who was accused of murdering his parents, Seymour and Arlene Tankleff. Marty, 17 years old at the time of the crime, was convicted in a trial largely based on his improperly coerced confession. The article notes that in 2007, an appellate court reversed the charges against Marty "in large part because of new evidence brought forth by Tankleff's attorneys that implicated other potential suspects." Both the Suffolk Country district attorney's office and the New York attorney general's office, appointed as special prosecutor, had announced they would not retry the case.

The Newsday article concluded, "'I hope that at some point, the actual killers are prosecuted,' said another Tankleff attorney, Barry Pollack of Washington, D.C., 'But whether that happens or not, I hope the justice system learns a lesson from what went wrong in this case so there won't be as many Marty Tankleffs in the future.'"
