On October 3, the South Asian Bar Association (SABANY) presented its Corporate Leadership Award to Kelley Drye & Warren LLP partner Talat Ansari, the chair of the firm’s India practice group. The dinner and award ceremony was held at the Tribeca Rooftop in New York City. U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Preet Bharara was the keynote speaker.
The SABANY Leadership Awards program annually recognizes the efforts of South Asian individuals who are making their mark by demonstrating leadership within their profession and to their community. Mr. Ansari was selected for this honor for steadfastly providing excellent legal services for nearly four decades, representing India-based industrial, servicing and trading companies and a large base of U.S. industrial and financial clients on Indian law. SABANY noted in its awards program that Mr. Ansari represents clients in corporate and commercial transactions, infrastructure projects, and international litigation and arbitration. Mr. Ansari’s practice includes general corporate, finance and commercial issues, mergers and acquisitions, and trade regulation matters. He also represents clients in international litigation and arbitration involving Indian laws, regulations, policies and practices, including general corporate laws, banking, direct and indirect taxes, arbitration, foreign exchange regulations and foreign direct investment. SABANY also highlighted Mr. Ansari’s experience in negotiating and structuring joint ventures, technology transfer and shareholder agreements; corporate restructuring; tax issues; the international bid process; financing and development of energy, telecommunications and other infrastructure projects; and litigation and arbitration.
