Bill Golden is a litigation partner in the firm's New York office and chair of the Intellectual Property and Technology Litigation practice group.
Mr. Golden counsels clients on a broad range of complex intellectual property issues. He has litigated a number of high profile matters in the courts and before domestic and international arbitration tribunals under trademark, patent, and copyright statutes, as well as federal and state antitrust, trade secret, and unfair competition laws.
Prior to attending law school, Mr. Golden spent three years in the U.S. Army where he served as a platoon leader in the 82nd (Abn) Division and as an adviser to a Vietnamese infantry battalion.
Representative Experience
Served as lead trial counsel for Bacardi in a protracted dispute involving courts in three circuits, two federal agencies, and the World Trade Organization, involving the establishment of Bacardi's rights to the HAVANA CLUB trademark in the United States.
Was co-counsel for Dr. Tafas in successful litigation challenging the U.S. Patent Office's proposed claims and continuation rules.
Represented pharmaceutical clients in patent licensing, codevelopment, and antitrust disputes arising out of the development and marketing of O-T-C and ethical drugs. The aggregate recovery for our clients in these matters is nearing $1,000,000,000.
Successfully argued appeals in intellectual property cases in the First, Second, Ninth and Federal Circuit Courts of Appeals.
