Susan Onuma is a partner in the firm's New York office and co-chair of the Asia practice group. She focuses her practice on corporate, business/commercial and employment/immigration law.
Ms. Onuma has experience in commercial transactions, real estate, joint ventures, licensing and acquisitions involving foreign corporations and often serves as the U.S. general counsel for their subsidiary companies, assisting them in all facets of their U.S. business operations and helping them establish best practices in the areas of corporate compliance, employment, export controls and antitrust among other areas.
She regularly advises multinational clients on legal issues associated with the manufacturing and distribution of products in the U.S. and internationally. In addition to advising on commercial transactions, including technical licensing agreements, import/export agreements, distributorship and sales representative agreements, she provides key litigation support to foreign clients with respect to the litigation process in the U.S.
In addition to providing legal advice in the area of employment and labor law, Ms. Onuma also oversees the Immigration practice group which handles business immigration and visa matters, including E, L and H nonimmigrant visas and employment-based immigrant visas. She also represents individual clients in the area of estate planning and administration of estates.
