Mr. Stein has represented clients in international project finance matters involving the development of liquefied natural gas (LNG), ammonium nitrate, methanol, ammonia, offshore natural gas and condensate development, crude oil pipeline, refinery, copper, melamine and bauxite projects in Indonesia, Canada, China, Argentina, Chile, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Puerto Rico, Qatar and Sudan.
Mr. Stein's experience with international infrastructure includes power, high-speed rail and wastewater treatment projects in India, Indonesia, Pakistan and Mexico. In addition, he has represented clients in international joint ventures involving Korea, Indonesia, Chile, China, Canada and Pakistan.
Mr. Stein has assisted clients with international engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts for gas-to-liquids, melamine, petrochemical, ammonia, urea, cement, power, copper, and pulp and paper projects in Australia, Korea, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Malaysia, Thailand, Chile, United States and Tanzania. His experience also includes international long-term raw material, feedstock and supply contracts for power, LNG, phosphate rock, potash, sulphur, ammonium nitrate, ammonia, urea, methanol, natural gas, condensate, bauxite and crude oil pipeline throughput.
Representative Experience
Represented clients in oil and gas exploration and development projects, including the preparation of new mining legislation for Somalia and Zambia, and the negotiation of exploration and development contracts in Somalia and Zambia.Participated in negotiations related to the development of LNG projects in Canada, China and Iran.
Represented the Government of an African country in negotiations with the Government of another African country relating to the export of natural gas by pipeline from one country to the other.
Assisted fiber optic submarine cable companies with supply contracts and OA&M contracts for fiber optic submarine cable systems.
Advised the Government of an African country with regard to the development of a methane gas-based power project.
Acted as arbitrator in international contract disputes.
