Sarah Cronin is a senior associate in the firm’s Los Angelesoffice, where her practice focuses on entertainment, intellectual property, insurance recovery, and complex business litigation.  Ms. Cronin has represented and advised media and entertainment companies on a variety of matters, including copyright, trademark, defamation, invasion of privacy, right of publicity, anti-SLAPP, insurance recovery, breach of contract, employment, and cyberpiracy and Internet domain name retrieval through WIPO, and she has appeared before state and federal courts.  Ms. Cronin also represents clients in general litigation matters, including contract disputes, insurance recovery, PAGA claims, and consumer class action defense.  Ms. Cronin has served as counsel in connection with disputes before the Motion Picture Association of America Title Registration Bureau.

Ms. Cronin is the Co-Chair of the California Chapter of the Media Law Resource Center (MLRC) and the Vice-Chair of the American Bar Association’s Forum on Communications Law Training & Development Committee.

Ms. Cronin served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Richard A. Kramer, Judge of the California Superior Court,County of San Francisco, Complex Litigation Department in 2005.  She also served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Susan Y. Illston, Judge of the United States District Court, Northern District of California in 2006.

Representative Experience

Hunter v. CBS Broadcasting Inc., 221 Cal. App. 4th 1510 (2013).  Represented CBS Broadcasting Inc. in obtaining ruling that anti-SLAPP statute applies to employment discrimination claims brought against a media defendant.

CBS Radio Inc. adv. Second Chance Financial, Superior Court of the State ofCalifornia,County ofLos Angeles (2012).  Represented CBS Radio Inc. through a bench trial, obtained dismissal of fraud and breach of contract claims; secured award of over $550,000 in attorneys’ fees in client’s favor.

Fox Searchlight Pictures v. Camelot Pictures, et al.,Los Angeles Superior Court, Case No. BC 394751 (2009).  Represented Fox Searchlight Pictures in a financing dispute over the motion picture “Margaret.”

Part of a team that successfully represented a cooperative association of 450 family-owned dairies, maker of the best selling brand of butter in the Western U.S., in a class action filed in the  Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging that the labeling of certain of their dairy products were false and misleading in violation of the California Unfair Competition statutes, as well as the Consumer Legal Remedies Act. Judge dismissed the case with prejudice on federal preemption grounds.

Has assisted in successfully retrieving numerous Internet domain names incorporating clients’ trademarks from cybersquatters all over the world.

Represents several of the nation’s top commercial construction companies in multimillion dollar insurance coverage disputes nationwide.

Assisted in the representation of a general contractor in successfully obtaining insurance coverage for a multimillion dollar construction defect claim.

Assisted in the representation of a manufacturing company in successfully obtaining insurance coverage for a pollution liability claim.
