Nafees Nuruddin is an associate in the firm’s New York office. He focuses his practice on all aspects of international and domestic commercial litigation and arbitration.
Mr. Nuruddin’s experience encompasses the representation of clients in disputes concerning bilateral investment treaties, fraud, breach of contract, and intellectual property matters. Mr. Nuruddin has worked with leading companies in a variety of industries, including apparel and cosmetics, technology, banking and finance, pharmaceuticals and industrial manufacturing.
Representative Experience
Part of trial team representing in-store marketing client in its antitrust and Lanham Act suit against a competitor in the District of Minnesota. Kelley Drye negotiated a favorable settlement for our client during trial.
Part of a trial team defending a major nutritional supplement manufacturer in a Lanham Act jury trial involving comparative advertising claims in the Eastern District of New York. The jury unanimously found that our client's statement, used on wholesalers' and retailers' store brand packaging for joint care products, inviting consumers to compare the products to a competitor's products, is not false and misleading and does not violate Section 43 of the Lanham Act.
Part of a small litigation team for an international cosmetics company bringing a trademark action in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Kelley Drye obtained a favorable settlement for the client during discovery.
Part of a team representing major oil company in various lawsuits initiated throughout the United States impacting the manner in which crude oil is traded in the United States.
Part of a team representing a leading multinational automotive and financial services company in an arbitration proceeding against the Republic of Argentina before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) in Washington, D.C.
Part of a team representing a major European construction services company in an ICSID arbitration against the Republic of Argentina.
Assisted in the defense of a U.S. manufacturer of inhalation pharmaceuticals in a multidistrict class action, as well as individual actions, brought by the Attorneys General of several states alleging fraud and other claims in connection with pharmaceutical pricing.
Assisted in the defense of an international software company in a multi-million dollar lawsuit involving alleged theft of trade secrets, copyright infringement and unfair competition. Case settled favorably during cross-examination of plaintiff's second witness.
Assisted in the representation of a Korean Bank against claims arising from the failure of speech recognition software.
