Fred Nathan is a partner in Kelley Drye & Warren LLP's New York office. He focuses his practice on trusts and estates and litigation matters.

Mr. Nathan has tried to conclusion more than 25 civil and criminal cases in federal and New York state courts. He has argued at all levels of the New York state and federal appellate courts.

Mr. Nathan previously served as first assistant corporation counsel for the City of New York from 1966-1969 (Mayor Lindsay's first term). He was an assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York from 1953-1956.

Mr. Nathan served in the United States Army from March, 1943 to October, 1945 and was stationed in England, France, and Germany from December, 1943 to October, 1945.

Representative Experience

Obtained dismissal on motion of a series of multi-party product liability actions.

Organized and managed a U.S.defense program and handled New York cases for a self-insured foreign automobile manufacturer.

Organized and was long-time counsel to the insurance program of a national non-profit healthcare provider.  Program provided all types of coverage on a group basis to its more than 100 affiliates and their officers, directors, doctors, and other employees.  Incorporated the program’s Bermuda captive insurance company and supervised defense of claims.

Williams College: class secretary; member of Sterling and Angevine committees which reviewed and recommended abolishment of fraternity system in the 1960's.

FOJP Services Corp., a subsidiary of the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies: director and member of Legal Committee, 1969-present; first chairman, Board of Directors.  FOJP provides a full range of insurance services to, and manages the claims against, more than 100 UJA-Federation agencies, including five major New York City medical centers and their officers, directors, doctors, and employees.
