Julie O'Neill is special counsel in the firm's Washington, DC office. She focuses her practice on advertising, marketing and privacy and information security law.
Ms. O'Neill counsels clients in all areas of state and federal consumer trade regulation law, including the review of online and offline advertising, all forms of direct marketing, the offering of consumer credit, and sweepstakes and other promotions. She also advises clients on compliance with state and federal privacy, information security and database breach notification laws, including the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Act, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA) and Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Ms. O'Neill also works with clients on lawfully transferring personal information from the European Union to the United States. In addition, she drafts privacy policies, Web site terms of use and agreements involving marketing practices, as well as the collection, sharing and use of personal data.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. O'Neill served as a staff attorney in the FTC's New York regional office, where she investigated violations of federal antitrust and consumer protection law. |
