Matthew Luzadder is an associate in the firm's Chicago office. His practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, white-collar crime and products liability litigation. Mr. Luzadder actively practices in both Illinois and Florida.
Mr. Luzadder's experience includes litigation of adversary proceedings in bankruptcy; fraudulent transfer cases, toxic substance cases, including ethylene oxide and asbestos; false advertising; trade secrets; tortious interference; and various related commercial claims.
He represents management in employment actions both in the federal courts and before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and various state agencies in response to charges of discrimination. His experience includes the preparation of position statements, investigating claims of discrimination and participation in alternative dispute resolution. |

Representative Experience:
Formerly served as member of the national litigation coordinating counsel team for a Fortune 500 company; work included the coordination and direction of local litigation counsel.
Participated on a defense team for Life Fitness in Quarta v. Life Fitness, which involved allegations that a defective treadmill caused severe and permanent injuries. The jury returned a verdict in favor of Life Fitness.
Obtained summary judgment on behalf of Life Fitness in Kalfakis v. Life Fitness, in which the plaintiff alleged that he was injured as the result of a defective piece of strength equipment.
Participated on a defense team in a case in which the manufacturer's alleged negligence resulted in an above-the-knee amputation. A favorable settlement was reached while the jury was deliberating.
Represented large chemical manufacturer in litigation brought in Cook County, Illinois by multiple plaintiffs involving alleged exposure to ethylene oxide. Obtained summary judgment against all plaintiffs and in favor of chemical manufacturer.
Participated on a defense team that represented an individual accused of alleged payment of kickbacks to a medical equipment distribution company. Judge granted motion for judgment of acquittal at conclusion of government's case in chief.
Recently obtained a favorable settlement of an employment matter on behalf of a multi-national corporation. Plaintiff alleged violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act, discrimination, and retaliation. The case settled during the discovery phase of the litigation.
Currently representing an individual in an insider trading investigation. |
