Brad Mutschelknaus is a partner in the firm's Washington, D.C. office. He focuses his practice in the area of telecommunications law.

Mr. Mutschelknaus has served as both outside and in-house counsel to telecommunications companies for more than 20 years. He has held in-house positions as general attorney at Satellite Business Systems; director of regulatory and external affairs at Sprint; and vice president and general counsel at NTS. Mr. Mutschelknaus was in the private practice of law from 1980-1983 before moving to in-house positions. He returned to private practice in 1990, and in 1996 co-founded the telecommunications practice group at Kelley Drye, where he also served as managing partner of the firm's Washington, D.C. office for several years.

Mr. Mutschelknaus represents numerous companies before the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), other federal agencies and state Public Utility Commissions (PUCs) in connection with rulemaking proceedings, related policy issues, compliance matters and enforcement proceedings. He also has extensive experience in the negotiation of interconnection agreements, collocation agreements, right-of-way agreements, telecom service agreements and similar transactions. He has supervised dozens of nationwide campaigns for federal and state regulatory approvals of major telecom transactions, and has successfully tried cases before more than 30 state PUCs.

Mr. Mutschelknaus is a past member of the boards of directors of Competitive Telecommunications Association (CompTel) and Operator Services Providers of America (OSPA), and a past chairman of the State & Local Practice Committee of the Federal Communications Bar Association. He has been recognized by Chambers USA as one of the leading telecommunications lawyers in Washington, D.C.
